Alex Hill is passionate about good service and his career in foreign exchange reflects that. From a sales position at HiFX in 2003, he quickly progressed to dealing private clients before moving on to commercial dealing. International experience from 2008-9 in London followed, before Alex returned to HiFX to run the commercial teams across New Zealand and Australia.

Alex later established an Auckland office for OFX, before returning to HiFX (now XE.com).

It was during this time he recognised an industry-wide shift away from personalised service towards a more transactional approach. Coming from a service-orientated background, Alex sensed there was still very much a demand for a relationship-led style of consulting, and in late 2020, he founded Electus Financial with these principles in mind.

A natural leader who deeply values the relationships he’s forged with each of his clients, Alex knows that the secret to success in any industry is to prioritise people. Hence his desire to deliver excellent personal service, to foster an understanding of clients’ individual needs and to have a laugh along the way. By essentially being their eyes and ears, Alex’s hope is that clients are then free to focus on what they do best.

Alex puts his gregarious nature down to the fact he’s an only child. He is proud of the culture he’s helped to create at Electus Financial, where he gets to work and hang out with his friends each day. Alex has played cricket since he was young but a midlife crisis has seen him recently take up golf. He lives in Auckland with his wife and young daughter.
